Okla. mom fighting for her life

EDMOND, Okla. — Someone needs YOU in their corner! One of Scott Hines’ sister’s dear friends just received devastating news; she has been diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic and liver cancer.

Stacey Slaton, a wife and mother of two young girls, is self-employed and won’t be able to work while she’s undergoing treatment.

The Slaton family lives in Edmond, attends LifeChurch.tv and has been involved in Edmond Schools for many years.

Scott Hines and his family are helping put together a fundraiser garage sale on Saturday, June 2 to benefit Stacey, her husband, Greg, and their two daughters, Alison and Ashytn.

Volunteer advocates needed for abused children

OKLAHOMA CITY — Abused children come from every zip code in Oklahoma County.

Only a third of Oklahoma County juvenile cases have a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteer.

CASA volunteers are the eyes and ears of the court; they speak for the children.

CASA of Oklahoma County has about 200 volunteers right now.

They are actively recruiting additional volunteers to meet the needs of the Oklahoma County juvenile court system.

CASA of Oklahoma County Executive Director, Lee Ann Limber, hopes to add 100 volunteers in the next year.
