EDMOND, Okla. — A day of tubing at Arcadia Lake went terribly wrong Monday afternoon for an area 14 year old.
Police said the teen was tubing behind a boat when the water knocked the teen off the raft.
When the boat returned to pick up the teen in the water, police said the driver misjudged and ran over the 14 year old, seriously injuring the teen.
“It just looked like a big, well, a big accident gone wrong,” bystander Steven Williams said.
Police said the boat cut the teen’s leg and they were flown to the hospital around 3 p.m.
The teen is expected to recover.
Edmond police said they hope others will learn a lesson from the accident.
“With this being a holiday weekend, there is a lot of boat traffic in the water. People need to slow down and realize this is not a typical weekend on the lake. There are extra people out here and the lake is really packed right now,” Edmond Officer James Hamm said.
