When Deer Creek High School announced last August that WINGS: A Special Needs Community would be its Wonderful Week of Fundraising (WWF) Charity for 2012, the organization was humbled.
“We are so honored to have been chosen by Deer Creek, and we appreciate the high standard they have achieved in their desire to aid adults with special needs,” said Wynter Olson-Casallas, WINGS Program Coordinator.
During Wednesday’s closing assembly, several WINGS students and their parents were guests as the student council announced that it had raised $80,285. The money will provide WINGS with an expanded art studio and new equipment. The art studio provides a place for adults with developmental disabilities to spend time in a significant and productive manner.
